Opportunities
The Office of Inclusive Excellence provides a range of opportunities throughout the academic year. Follow our weekly newsletter for trainings, events, resources and opportunities, alongside the on-going initiatives below!
We invite community members to participate in our DEI Learning Community, the CECH Common Read initiative. At each meeting, we will discuss several chapters of the book My Grandmother’s Hands by Resmaa Menakem with reflection questions from the book and outside resources. Meetings will last about an hour.
Please email the CECH Office for Inclusive Excellence at cechoiecp@ucmail.uc.edu if you are interested in being a part of a Learning Community. Please let us know if you need any help getting a book if you have not already done so. We look forward to being a part of this exciting project!
As part of our ongoing commitment to accessibility and belonging at CECH, we are delighted to invite you to our new Faculty & Staff Study Hall.
This initiative provides a dedicated time and space for folks to work on their individual tasks while benefiting from a supportive and focused setting. This space offers an environment where individuals can focus on their tasks and projects using accessible productivity techniques. We will be incorporating the Body Doubling and Pomodoro methods to help you make the most of your time:
Body Doubling: By working in the presence of others, you can boost your motivation and stay on track with your tasks. This collaborative approach creates a supportive environment that helps maintain focus and accountability.
Pomodoro Timer: This method involves working in focused intervals of 25 minutes, followed by a short break. It’s an effective way to maintain high levels of concentration and efficiently manage your time.
How Do These Methods Support Accessibility? These techniques are accessible to everyone and particularly beneficial for individuals with ADHD and other neurodiverse conditions, as they provide structure and reduce the overwhelming nature of large tasks.
