Certificate - Correctional Rehabilitation

About

Our Certificate in Correctional Rehabilitation is a specialization within the School of Criminal Justice that provides a deeper and more comprehensive understanding of the risk, need and responsivity model of offender treatment.  You will take courses focusing on juvenile justice, women offenders, cognitive behavioral interventions, risk and need assessment, correctional program implementation, behavioral management systems, and other related topics. The three required courses will provide you with a foundation and framework for understanding the correctional system, both adult and juveniles, as well as a background in evidence-based interventions for these populations.

Program Objectives

By graduation, you will be able to:

  • begin working in correctional settings that provide rehabilitative services to offenders
  • find a job in probation and parole, prisons, jails, community based correctional facilities, halfway houses and group homes, day reporting centers, reentry programs and other correctional settings
  • have a foundation in theoretical, empirical, and practical foundation to work with, manage, and/or study offenders in correctional treatment settings
