Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence Lab
The picture shows Dr. Elsayed (on the right) with her research lab students during one of the AMLI lab students' Ph.D. Defense.
The Applied Machine Learning and Intelligence (AMLI) Lab, founded in 2020 by Dr. Nelly Elsayed at the University of Cincinnati, conducts interdisciplinary research at the intersection of artificial intelligence, data science, cybersecurity, healthcare, and intelligent decision support. The lab develops trustworthy, explainable, and responsible AI solutions that address complex real-world challenges while advancing scientific knowledge and practical impact.
Our research spans the full spectrum of modern artificial intelligence, including traditional machine learning, deep learning, generative AI, and emerging agentic AI systems. We focus on designing AI technologies that are transparent, reliable, secure, and human-centered, enabling organizations to make better decisions across healthcare, cybersecurity, and other critical infrastructures.
The AMLI Lab collaborates with academic institutions, healthcare organizations, industry partners, and government agencies to translate research into practical solutions. We actively mentor undergraduate, master's, and doctoral students through hands-on research experiences, preparing the next generation of researchers and AI professionals.
