Moving to a different country for school can be a confusing process. Check this list of our top 15 frequently asked questions to see if you can find your solution here.
Deadlines
- Can vary depending on the program. Some programs such as the Master of Science in Information Technology will have best consideration deadline dates.
- Refer to the program that you may wish to apply for further guidance.
- Depending on the program, an official NACES evaluation is required prior to submitting the application.
- A NACES Evaluation is required for students who are admitted and confirmed for their graduate program of choice.
Students will create a bill with all potential payment requirements and due dates.
Funding
Funding may offer full or partial funding. Each program will have the funding opportunities outlines in the offer letter.
- Depending on the program, if offered funding as part of the admission process, the offer letter will state next steps. Students who apply for a program where they are considered for potential funding, there is no need to apply for funding.
- If a student is not offered any funding by the program, then external funding may be looked at and applied for.

Admissions
English proficiency:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 80 iBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5 overall band
- Duolingo (DET): minimum score of 110
- PTE: minimum score of 54
- Visa requirements are located on the F-1 Student Visa - International Services | University of Cincinnati (uc.edu) website.
- The CECH Program Coordinator will be available to assist once admitted and confirmed into your program of choice.
- All official admission documents are listed as part of the confirmation process and listed on the application page.
- Some colleges will send an offer letter (if applicable) to the student directly via email.
Confirmation
- Each college may offer an orientation for their students who have arrived for their start date.
- International Services provides information about orientation check in and follow up steps. Please use the attached link to learn more International Orientation & Check-in - International Services | University of Cincinnati (uc.edu).
- An email is sent from each college for the program that the student is admitted for and confirmed for with next steps.
- For some programs, students attend a Next Steps Webinar for class registration following the opening of class enrollment for new students.
Students who wish to defer to a later semester must reach out to the individual program and see if there is an option to defer.
Graduate Students
- Can vary depending on the program. Generally, for international students below is an overview of application requirements:
- English proficiency:
- TOEFL: minimum score of 80 iBT
- IELTS: minimum score of 6.5 overall band
- Duolingo (DET): minimum score of 110
- PTE: minimum score of 54
Application fee waivers are granted for US active duty military members and veterans, as well as participants in any of the following programs:
- McNair Scholars
- State of Ohio STARS Scholars
- GEM Scholars
- These waivers will be applied automatically upon submission of those application for those who qualify.
The Master of Science in Information Technology requires a confirmation fee of $100.00 US Dollars.
