Resources & Support

The Office of Inclusive Excellence offers an array of resources and support at individual, community and systemic levels for understanding issues like discrimination, belonging, mental health, justice, psychological safety and so on. We encourage individuals to connect with us in co-creating tools for a more equitable educational experience and community.

As a member of CECH, you have access to a wide range of resources and tools to help you succeed in your role. This collection of onboarding articles covers everything from parking to technology tips and most importantly, answers the question "who do I go to for what?"

To get started, explore the categories provided here created by the Office of Innovative Technology & Learning Design (OITLD) . You'll be able to review OITLD'S checklist to make sure you have access to everything you need as you begin your journey!

In efforts to create a culture of belonging, we have created a student information worksheet and resources for name pronunciation. This provides faculty and instructors to collect preferred and lived names of students to ensure their identities are honored and respected in the classroom.

Student Information Worksheet

This worksheet allows us to gather the gender identity of students, correct pronunciation of one’s name, and additional information to help students feel safe in our classrooms. For those teaching online courses, review OITLD’s knowledge base article to import the identity sheet as a survey in your Canvas courses:

Mental Health Resources

The CECH Office for Inclusive Excellence is a Mental Health America (MHA) Bell Seal recipient. This seal recognizes our commitment to creating mentally healthy workplaces through best practices and standards that promote positive mental well-being among community members. Our team regularly shares mental health resources, research and other relevant information to our students, faculty, and staff.

CECH also maintains a Mental Health Resource Guide that is open for community members to explore, utilize and share.

Embedded Mental Health Counselor

CECH houses many programs that are considered human caregiver roles. We value the mental health of our students and offer counseling services through CAPS and our CECH Embedded Counselor. Learn more about counseling services, self-help resources and FAQs here!

Our college values the richness of our community, which is composed of diverse individuals from all corners of the globe, each with unique names, backgrounds, and experiences. We understand that one’s name and gender identity are an essential part of who one is; recognizing our community members as they wish to be identified is a sign of respect, safety, and belonging.

In our ongoing commitment to fostering an inclusive environment, we invite community members to engage in the various ways you can share your name and pronouns at UC:

  • CECH offers a Name Sign Submission form, which allows you to submit your preferred/lived name, which will then be updated on the nameplates and signage outside your office space. We will update nameplates weekly.
  • To show your pronouns in Microsoft Outlook and Teams, add your personal pronouns in Microsoft Office 365.
  • Add your pronouns to your email signature, these examples can be used as a guide.
  • You can record your name pronunciation using NameCoach to add to your email signature or to your CECH Canvas Courses

We encourage faculty, staff, and students to utilize these tools to ensure names are pronounced correctly and pronouns reflect identities. If you have any questions or concerns, please email The Office of Inclusive Excellence.
