Hoxworth Clinic Pediatric Primary Care - University Hospital

The Literacy Research and Innovation Center (LRIC) is a partner with Hoxworth Clinic Pediatric Primary Care, affiliated with University Hospital, on delivery of the national Reach Out and Read program. The Hoxworth Clinic has 30 Residents and 15 Physicians. The Reach Out and Read initiative assists with preparation of our country's youngest children to succeed in school by partnering with doctors to prescribe books and encourage families to read together.

The LRIC is providing initial funding awarded to Dr. Jessica Gillespie to allow purchase of books required to start the program Fall 2011. UC undergraduate and graduate literacy students will volunteer in Hoxworth Clinic to conduct story time sessions in the waiting room for young children.

If you are interested in volunteering, please email Dr. Allison Breit-Smith.
