2025 Transformative Leadership Vanguard
What is the Transformative Leadership Vanguard (TLV)?
The TLV is an in-person training event that responds to a growing need for system-wide transformation by creating organizational champions at the front-line level. Expanding knowledge, skills, experience, and peer networks, champions will use evidence-based practices to re-shape the field from within.
Why is it called a Vanguard?
A Vanguard is the forefront of a movement, made up of people who have a strong desire for change, and who will lead the way in new developments or ideas. People with a strong desire for change can drive and facilitate positive transformation in a variety of ways. Change agents in the field of corrections help people learn to overcome challenges and make healthy choices that positively impact their lives as well as the lives of others. By continuously developing our own skills and knowledge, we become more impactful in this work. These efforts create opportunities to improve the broader social, economic, and physical environments in which we live. As such, the purpose of the Transformative Leadership Vanguard is to equip and inspire those actively seeking to create meaningful and sustainable improvements whereby both individuals and communities can thrive.
Who can apply to join the TLV?
This event is open to both individual applicants as well as teams of staff. The TLV is appropriate for anyone working closely with adults and/or youth at any level in the justice system (e.g., community supervision officers, case managers, corrections officers, counselors, clinicians, residential staff, community providers). Qualified must demonstrate a passion for their work, and a strong desire to transform not only their agency, but the system at large. Space is limited and participation will be awarded to qualified applicants on a first come, first serve basis.
