We empower individuals to become passionate, solution‐minded Information Technology professionals by fostering: continuous innovation, research, leadership development, interdisciplinary problem solving, and real‐world experience. Our Bachelor of Science (BS) of Information Technology is a great fit if you are passionate about using computer technology to provide solutions to issues facing individuals, societies, and organizations. Distinct from computer engineering, computer science, and management information systems, our BSIT program focuses on meeting the needs of users within organizational and societal contexts through the selection, creation, application, integration, and administration of computing technologies. Recent graduates hold positions that range from software developer, programmer, and web developer.

Program Objectives

  • Graduates of the IT program will be prepared to gain employment as an IT professional.
  • Graduates of the IT program will function effectively as individuals and team members in the workplace, growing into highly technical or project management and leadership roles.
  • Graduates of the IT program will pursue life-long learning, and obtain the tools to successfully identify and adapt to ever changing technologies.
  • Graduates of the IT program, if they are inclined, will be able to continue their formal education and be accepted to relevant graduate degree programs and succeed in these studies.

Program Outcomes

  1. The student demonstrates an understanding of security implications and integrates this knowledge into their application of software development and networking/systems.
  2. The student utilizes modern coding standards and industry best practices to develop software solutions for problems facing users and organizations.
  3. The student designs proper network configuration, demonstrates an understanding of network protocols/services and is able to perform network troubleshooting.
  4. The student implements, integrates, and manages databases for common workplace needs.
  5. The student installs and maintains client and server operating systems and their associated network services, users, and file systems.
  6. The student identifies users' needs, analyzes tasks, and identifies user profiles to build an interactive software application interface using iterative design methodology based on the user centered development practices.
  7. The student implements and applies project management principles.
  8. The student communicates effectively with peers and stakeholders in oral and written modes.
  9. The student demonstrates collaborative problem-solving and teaming skills.
  10. The student demonstrates an understanding of professionalism and the importance of ethics in the workplace.

Looking Forward

The online delivery of this program will include concentrations in Software Application Development, Networking, Cybersecurity and Game Development and Simulation.  In order to ensure a quality educational experience, the curriculum is being implemented as students enter the program.  The schedule of implementation is listed below.

 If you have previous college credit, please make arrangements to speak with an Information Technology Academic Advisor prior to applying to the program.  We want to ensure that these credits are directly applicable to your chosen degree program and that Information Technology courses are available.  Please note that by academic year 2020-2021, all Information Technology courses will be available online, but we still suggest a meeting with an Academic Advisor.
