Noyce Scholars Grant
The Robert Noyce Teacher Stipends and Scholarships funded through the National Science Foundation (NSF) provides scholarships for STEM degree seekers, holders and career changers UC seniors to become licensed science and mathematics teachers throughout the US.
The Developing a Strong and Diverse STEM Teacher Program (DSDST) at the University of Cincinnati creates new 30 scholarships for undergraduates and graduates who are interested in becoming a licensed secondary (grades 7-12) STEM teacher and either:
- Are a UC undergraduate seeking a degree in chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology or geology or engineering or
- Have a STEM degree from any accredited institution and would like to become a secondary STEM educator.
UC’s DSDST offers:
- An accelerated one-year teacher licensing program
- Three levels of tuition scholarships (undergraduate, in-state graduate, or out-of-state graduate)
- Summer clinical teaching experience with the Breakthrough Cincinnati program
- Community connectors to learn about local community assets and resources available for creating Cincinnati grounded instruction
- Funds for travel to regional or national Noyce conferences
- A problem and project-based curriculum orientation
- Preparation to teach social justice focused mathematics and science
- A curriculum developed in conjunction with experienced urban educators
