Naomi Matley is an Assistant Professor of Exercise Science and Internship Director at the University of Cincinnati in Cincinnati, Ohio. She brings a wealth of experience and passion to her role, fostering the next generation of exercise science professionals.

Naomi studied Exercise Science and Psychology at Wingate University, where she also excelled as a four-year student-athlete on the Women’s Soccer team, earning 2014 Honorable Mention recognition. She later pursued her Master of Science in Health Education Promotion and Higher Education Leadership at the University of Cincinnati, serving as the HPE Program Graduate Assistant and the Fitness and Wellness Graduate Assistant at the campus recreation center.

Professionally, Naomi has led fitness departments at the University of Cincinnati, North Carolina State University, and Purdue University, where she served as Senior Assistant Director of Fitness & Special Programs. In these roles, she trained students to become certified personal trainers and instructors, facilitated Exercise is Medicine programs, and spearheaded renovations to improve fitness spaces for student use. Naomi’s leadership extended beyond higher education into corporate fitness, where she held leadership roles with F45 Training HQ as the College Network Studio Performance Manager and Partnership Development Manager for FitReserve (Now E-GYM Wellpass). Her diverse experience spans management, training, operations, and business development, supported by a wide network of on-campus, regional, and national connections.

One of Naomi’s most notable accomplishments was being selected as one of twelve women coaches to represent the United States in Brazil through the International Sports Programming Initiative, a collaboration between the U.S. Department of State, Girls Rugby, and Women Win. In this program, she worked with fellow coaches to develop strategies to eliminate stereotypical gender roles, empower women to grow their businesses in athletics and promote the importance of exercise and physical health to low-income families.

As a passionate fitness professional, Naomi possesses extensive knowledge in exercise physiology, sports performance, marketing/sales, partnerships, and performance management. Her career has included collaborations with organizations such as the International Olympic Committee, RowHouse, LiftLabCo, CrossFit, Women Win, the U.S. Air Force, Lululemon,  and OhioHealth, reflecting her broad expertise and commitment to advancing the fitness industry.
