The Middle Childhood Education Program welcomes you!

This web page will be used throughout your time in the program and contains information you will need to be familiar with to support you on your journey to becoming an educator.

All Middle Childhood Education students are required to be read and understand the Program Handbook. This handbook outlines the policies and procedures of the program. Please contact the Field Coordinator with any questions you have regarding the contents of the handbook.

Professional Cohort Year 2 - Senior Year

During the final year of professional cohort candidates participate in two field experiences: Practicum 2 and Student Teaching. The candidate will be placed with the same mentor teacher for both experiences.

This information is necessary for your university supervisor to coordinate visits to your school. Download the word document, complete the information with the help of your mentor teacher, and email to your university supervisor.

This document guides candidates through the process of rating themselves in several areas aligned with Ohio Standards of the Teaching Profession, edTPA, and CAEP accreditation standards. This document is completed independently by the candidate, the mentor teacher, and the university supervisor. All three parties bring their completed assessments to a triad meeting to reach consensus and develop goals for Student Teaching II.

AMLE and Ohio Standards of the Teaching Profession Observation Tool (DOC) 

This observation form is used by both university supervisors and mentor teachers to provide written feedback on observed instruction to candidates. Candidates are encouraged to video record their instruction and use this form for self-evaluation as well.
