Intellectual Property (IP) paralegal

Role Summary: GE Aviation has an open position for an Intellectual Property (IP) paralegal who will support lawyers and specialists on GE Aviation’s various IP matters, including document preparation and management, assisting with research, docket management, patent, copyright and trademark formalities, billing, data analysis, reporting and other IP program support. Essential Responsibilities:

* File new patent, trademark and copyright applications prepared by in-house patent attorneys andspecialists

* Track status of IP matters, prepare and handle filings, coordinate incoming and outgoing filetransfers, and execute formal documents to meet their deadlines

* Review and process incoming correspondence regarding current status of registered IP

* Review, process, and maintain IP dockets for filing deadlines, including preparing reminders toattorneys and clients as needed

* Organize documents, IP agreements, and other administrative files as requested

* Liaise with internal clients and external counsel as needed regarding calendaring, document transfers, and other case management needs

* Assist in drafting legal and other documents and correspondence

* Handle billing and vendor selection processes as requested

* Assist with other programmatic support, including with regard to training, conferences, dataanalytics and administrative tasks

* Spearhead special projects as requested


* Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university (pre-Law degree preferred)

* Minimum of 2 years of relevant work experience

* Minimum 5 years working with Microsoft Office skills (Word, PowerPoint, Excel), and an interest in learning other computer applications

* Flexibility and willingness to work extended hours as circumstances dictate

Desired Characteristics:

* Familiar with United States Patent & Trademark Office (USPTO) rules and procedures, and abasic understanding of foreign patent prosecution procedures is strongly preferred

* Familiarity with the Anaqua corporate IP management system, or similar

* Proven organizational and analytical skills with extraordinary attention to detail

* Ability to work independently and efficiently; ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously

* Strong interpersonal, verbal, and writing skills including editing and proofreading

* Self-starter and proactive problem solver

* Team player; experience working in a fast-paced environment
