February 15: Final Deadline for Master’s Applicants

All degree students begin in Fall semester.

Application Requirements

1. Complete application form online

We utilize UC's online application system for all applications. There is only one admissions cycle per year. 

2. Once you are at the online application site, just follow the instructions and steps to complete your application. Have the following documents ready to upload through the UC online application. Your recommenders will be prompted by an email from UC to upload the recommendation letters directly into your application file.

  • Resume (master's applicants) or vita (doctoral applicants); including:  
    • name, address, phone, birth date, citizenship
    • colleges attended with degrees earned and dates
    • employment history, professional experience, present employment
  • Names and email addresses of three recommenders who are familiar with your academic and professional abilities and will be sending letters
  • Goal statement
  • Writing Sample, if Doctoral applicant.  Doctoral applicants should submit a writing sample. The sample can be a manuscript they have written as the first author, or a research paper/essay they have written in a prior undergraduate or graduate class. Applicants are encouraged to submit a writing sample that demonstrates their understanding of counseling or related topics and competency in scholarly writing.
  • GRE scores not older than five years(required); Registration for the Graduate Record Exam (GRE) may be obtained from the Testing Services
  • TOEFL Scores, if international student applicant. Please see the Frequently Asked Questions for specific international requirements.
  • Unofficial transcripts from all institutions attended. Upon admission to the program, official transcripts will be required. 

Admissions Timeline:

December 1: Deadline for Doctoral, International, and Master’s Applicants interested in available funding

January: All Doctoral interviews and first round Master’s interviews

February 15: Final Deadline for Master’s Applicants, Doctoral and first round Master’s applicants notified of admission

March: Final Master’s applicant interviews and notification of admission

April 15th: Admitted students' confirmation deadline

August: Orientation (typically the week before classes begin)
