George Richardson's Bio
George Richardson, PhD, is Associate Professor and Coordinator for the Substance Abuse Counseling Program in the College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services at the University of Cincinnati. He teaches substance abuse counseling and counselor education courses and carries out interdisciplinary research applying life history theory to substance abuse, examining the roles of religiousness and spirituality in substance abuse etiology and recovery, and evaluating the effects of context-based learning approaches. He also has strong interests in psychometrics and methods for addressing confounding in observational research. He serves as Statistical Advisor and Handling Editor at Addiction Research and Theory, Associate Editor at Evolutionary Psychology, Methodology Editor at Evolutionary Psychological Science, and on the editorial boards at Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development and Frontiers in Psychology (Evolutionary Psychology). He won the Campbell Collaboration (C2) Leonard E. Gibbs Award for “finest systematic review completed and approved by the C2 Social Welfare Coordinating Group in 2012”, as well as five student nominated College of Education, Criminal Justice, and Human Services Golden Apples for Excellence in Teaching (2014-2018).
