Early Childhood Education (Pre-K - Grade 3)

UC Early Childhood Education students visiting Kids Love Nature on a study abroad trip to England

Our Bachelor of Science (BSED) Degree in Early Childhood Education prepares graduates to become effective teachers of children in a variety of pre-kindergarten through grade three settings, including preschools, Head Start programs, child-care centers, public schools and related programs for children. This program prepares students to take the Ohio Assessments for Educators (OAE) exams upon graduation. Afterwards, candidates are eligible to apply for an initial State of Ohio teaching license valid for teaching children pre-kindergarten through grade three.

The School of Education was ranked 3rd Best Early Education Program in the Nation (SED, 2015 USA Today).

“Our 3rd grade teacher clearly received a fantastic education at the University of Cincinnati. Her lessons are clear and methodical, her interactions with her students are professional yet caring, and her classroom management is impressive. She is a true team player and a true asset to our staff. Thank you for all UC does to develop young adults into future educators of the next generation!”
