Christina R. Carnahan comes to the University of Cincinnati as assistant professor of special education. Dr. Carnahan recently earned her Ed.D. from the University of Cincinnati in education with a focus on autism, improving outcomes for individuals with significant disabilities, and teacher training. While receiving her degree she served as a consultant for school districts seeking to improve services for children with autism and significant learning needs. Prior to starting her doctorate, Dr. Carnahan was a special education teacher in both elementary and middle school. She has also published and given a number of talks in the areas of classroom and instructional design for students with intense disabilities, supporting classroom staff, and promoting positive behavior for students with disabilities. Her research interests include improving learning and life outcomes for students with autism and significant learning needs by increasing teacher efficiency and effectiveness.
