The CECH Grant Office handles grant issues and proposal submissions to federal, state, and local agencies, as well as some private foundations and organizations.
The CECH grant office regularly sends out RFP notices to assist you in your search for funding. Please contact us if there is an opportunity for which you would like to apply.
Please note: The complete proposal must be received by the submitting office at least five (5) full business days prior to the sponsor's due date. The timely submission of proposals ensures sufficient time for the thoughtful consideration and review of the proposal and budget for compliance with University and sponsor policies.
Internal UC Funding Opportunities - Please work directly with the University Research Council to apply for internal funding.
All proposals go through the university and may not be submitted by an individual. Please contact us as soon as you think you may want to submit a proposal.
Please have your proposal to the grant office at least 5 days before the sponsor's due date. The final budget and justification need to be in at this time for Coeus routing. This means that if you are requesting a reduced F&A rate or off-campus rate then those approvals should already be in place. Please let us know well in advance if you need any type waiver as those approvals can take some time to obtain.
Maximum allowable EXC paid during an EXC year is 14/32 of the adjusted annual base salary. Faculty working part- or full-time during an off semester will have their maximum allowable EXC pay reduced by the amount of their off-semester pay (summer teaching pay and/or administrative stipend, etc.) Please contact the grant office for details.
Payment of effort by sponsored sources is limited to the break periods and classified as EXC. EXC payment is figured at the per-break-period maximum. EXC cannot be paid for effort on paid holidays or on days when the University is officially closed.
EXC Links -
Please note that it if you have EXC on your grant you also must apply academic effort, which can be recorded as cost share. The grant office will help you with this.
Please work with your School Head or Department Chair to determine course buy-out.
No worries. Please send the information to the Grant Office. We will work with the UC Foundation to determine which office is most appropriate.
F&A (facilities and administration), Indirect Cost and Overhead are used interchangeably to mean costs incurred by the University for work required on grants.
These costs are not covered directly by the grant and include such things as electricity, heat, air conditioning, computers, water and personnel.
All grants need to include the appropriate F&A rate, unless the funder has a specific policy against funding Indirect Costs. Please contact the Grant Office if you feel your particular project warrants a lower F&A rate.
Please allow sufficient time to obtain a waiver as numerous signatures are required.
The CECH Grant office conducts workshops to help you submit proposals and manage your existing awards.
All Workshops Are in Room 407 Teachers/Dyer Complex (Annie Laws)
