School of Education Receives Grant for Expert Clinically-Based Teacher Educators Project

Dr. Helen Meyer

Dr. Helen Meyer, an Associate Professor in the School of Education, is directing a research project entitled “Expert Clinically-Based Teacher Educators” (ECBTE).  The project -- partnered with Cincinnati Public Schools, Cincinnati Federation of Teachers, Cincinnati State, UC’s College of Arts and Sciences, UC’s College of Engineering, and Hughes STEM High School -- was recently awarded $1,732,532 by the National Science Foundation.  The objective of ECBTE is to develop and provide continuous professional development to secondary STEM teachers in Cincinnati Public Schools.  This entails a five-year professional growth plan to enhance the selected teachers’ expertise in grant core and elective areas.  The project aims to enhance and capitalize on the expertise of these established STEM teachers in hopes of expanding their career trajectories to become better clinical educators who will lead in advanced teaching techniques for their students.  These students, ranging from grades 7-12, will benefit from this program by having access to high quality STEM instruction, providing them with a well-rounded and quality education.
