About

Our Bachelor of Science (BSED) Degree in Early Childhood Education prepares graduates to become effective teachers of children in a variety of birth through 5 settings, including preschools, Head Start programs, child-care centers, public schools and related programs for children. The successful completion of student teaching and all degree requirements may lead to faculty’s recommendation for Ohio’s pre-K license.

Program Objectives

By graduation, you will be able to:

  • Teach children in a variety of settings in the State of Ohio
  • Withhold an ethical and thorough understanding of early childhood theory (Birth-5) and its application to the educational setting

Accreditation

The University of Cincinnati and all regional campuses are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.

The Early Childhood Education Birth-5 program is accredited by the following:

  • Higher Learning Commission
  • Council for the Accreditation of Educator Preparation (CAEP)

The School of Education was ranked 3rd Best Early Education Program in the Nation (SED, 2015 USA Today).
