Middle Childhood Generalist Endorsement
Our Middle Childhood Generalist Endorsement is a great fit for anyone dedicated to improving the educational experiences of young people in grades 4-9, with a special commitment to teaching all children. Those who already hold a degree in Early Childhood Education or two areas of Middle Childhood Education can expand their licensure by completing appropriate course work to become eligible to apply for a generalist license, which would allow those with a middle childhood license to teach in all four subject areas in grades 4, 5, and 6. For those with an early childhood license, once they completed the generalist coursework, they could expand their teaching to include grades 4 and 5 only.
The School of Education at the University of Cincinnati is consistently ranked as a top institution in the field of Education. Most recently, US News and World Report placed it in the top 100 Best Education Schools (2016). The University of Cincinnati and all its regional campuses are accredited by the Higher Learning Commission.
Upon completion of this Endorsement, candidates will be knowledgeable in and able to teach additional content areas in addition to their previous license after they pass either the OAE Elementary Education (Subtest I), the OAE Elementary Education (Subtest II), or the content test for each subject area.
