Immigration Specialist

Summary: The Cincinnati office of Taft Stettinius & Hollister LLP seeks an Immigration Specialist to join our Immigration practice group. Applicants should have experience handling aspects of business (employment) immigration and managing clients with Nonimmigrant visas, including H-1B, L-1, E-1/2/3, TN; and Immigrant visas. The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background, great analytical and writing skills, and be able to demonstrate leadership and initiative.

Essential Functions

  • Attorney Support
    • Proactively supports attorneys
    • Document review and control
    • Responds to attorney requests with a sense of urgency and effectively prioritizes work
    • Monitors deadlines
    • Composes letters and memoranda
    • Transcribes dictation
    • Processes requests for payment and reimbursements
    • Processes mail
    • Answers phone and transcribes messages
  • Information Management
    • Creates, maintains, and retires files in accordance with Taft’s Information Governance Policy
    • Assists attorneys in managing client contacts, emails, and print documents

Supervisory Responsibility: This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment: This job operates in a professional office environment. Specialists routinely use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.

Physical Demands: This is largely a sedentary role; however, some movement around the office is required.  For example, document specialists must be able to lift files, open filing cabinets and bend or stand as necessary.

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, with specific hours to be scheduled by supervisors.  

Travel: No travel is expected for this position.

Required Education and Experience: Must have high school diploma and legal administrative experience in the area of Immigration.
